Who Are Our Customers

MARC is delighted and honoured to include many of the leading names in the ship operating and marine insurance sectors amongst our satisfied clients. Whilst most of our work is for prestige ship operating companies and P&I Clubs / Marine Insurance Companies – including Reinsurers - MARC is also pleased to include a wide diversity of clientele amongst the wider maritime community.

In a similar way that we do not provide an exclusive list of services we offer – we cannot provide an exclusive list of our clients. Recent Assignments

In an attempt to provide some indication of the type of projects which MARC undertakes – we include below a small selection of examples of recent projects which MARC has been invited to become involved in:

Example 1 – A leading IACS Classification Society required to sub-contract services to deliver high quality training to ship operators and their shore and sea staff in a wide range of maritime safety management related subjects. MARC provided a wide range of training courses – on site – for the shore based and seagoing staff of the Members of the Class Society – delivered by experts with practical experience.

Example 2 – A major player in the Oil and Gas sector was undergoing a rapid expansion and required assistance in managing the risk associated with these important changes. MARC put together a detailed ‘Passage Plan’ to help steer the Company through this important and difficult period of expansion and change which included training of staff both on-shore and on-board as well as developing, implementing and monitoring safety and quality management systems. This is a major project involving an international operation with many thousands of staff around the world which required a very high level of input with regard to the management of change.

Example 3 – A ship operator was concerned about whether its internal SMS was going to be adequate to satisfy the requirements of TMSA – and, in turn, the OCIMF – SIRE Inspection. MARC Consultants were able to attend on board to conduct a pre-inspection audit and to provide appropriate support to ensure that the sea staff were fully trained and skilled such that they would be able to satisfactorily deal with a SIRE inspection.

Example 4 – A ship operator had reason to question its selection and recruitment procedures – including its internal promotion procedures. MARC was asked to review these procedures and to introduce additional risk control measures to ensure that those selected for promotion were adequately equipped to undertake their new roles..

Example 5 – A harbour authority realised that it was responsible for operating two categories of vessels – Inter-Island Ferries and Harbour Tugs – and wanted to explore whether the two SMS’s could be rationalised into one system.

Example 6 – A leading Re-Insurance Company which owned a local captive insurance company, was concerned about the claims experience of a ship operating company they were insuring via the captive. The ship operating company was actually a quite well known and respected ship operating company. MARC provided a risk assessment on behalf of the client and fed back useful and practical suggestions to the ship operating company which helped it improve the way they were managing safety on board its ships.

At MARC we pride ourselves at being able to respond to our client’s specific needs and provide a workable solution to issues which are causing them concern. Talk to us in confidence about your concerns and allow us to help you better manage your operational risk and make your ships safer and more efficient.
